Make this trendy long tail bow hair clip using a drapey bamboo and cotton mix crochet yarn Cotton Bamboo from Lion Bran Yarn. The texture of this yarn is soft but sturdy and when the fiber is relaxed after blocking, it provides a nice drape. The ensemble of this bow onto the hair clip will help emphasize the drape of the yarn. It’s the perfect bow for putting your hair back during this nice warm weather. It is the perfect small item for markets and great small gifting items. I hope you enjoy making it!

Love Always, Panyia

Note

  • This Pattern uses US terminology.

  • This bow is made using a crochet strand. The strand can be made super simple using the chain foundation stitch and then making double crochet stitches across or you can simply make the strand using the special stitch, the double crochet chainless foundation stitch, as provided in the instructions below.

  • Adding felt onto the hair clip is optional. Using felt on the clip helps the crochet yarn stick to the clip easier and also keeps the crochet strand stay on a bit longer and stronger.

How to make a bow

Find the middle of the strand. From the center of the strand make two loops, making sure to have the middle of the strand in between the two loops (photo 4). Tie a knot with the loops. Pull on the loops to tighten (photo 5-7). You can adjust the length of the tail by pulling on the tail (photo 8). Cinch the bow tight by pulling the bow part closest to the knot, opposite of the tail (photo 9).
