I created this beautiful, twelve-point, star-looking plant coaster using a t-shirt textured yarn to give your space some softness and chic-ness. When I first created this pattern, I really wanted something that is neutral in color, boho-styled, and simple. In this pattern, I am using two special stitches to create the points of the coaster: the bobble stitch and the picot stitch. I named this coaster Celestia, because it reminds me of stars. I love how the stars symbolize brightness in the dark and how it presumes comfort and peace. I hope that this Celestia Plant Coaster will give your living space a calm, clean, and chic vibe.

Love Always, Panyia

Notes

  • This is a quick pattern that an intermediate or advanced beginner crocheter can make in under 30 minutes and would be a great addition to market prepping or gift giving.

  • This pattern is designed for crocheters who know some basic stitches listed in the “Abbreviations” section. If you do not know how those stitches are made, please search on YouTube. There are many videos to help you create those stitches. I have included how to make a magic ring and the two special stitches (bobble stitch and picot stitch) as a reference. See “Special Stitches” section.

  • This pattern is worked in the rounds.

  • Chain 2 at the beginning of each round does not count as a stitch.

Special Stitches

Magic Ring (mr): Place loose end of yarn on index finger, wrap it around your finger and create an X over the loose end. Insert hook under the loose end yarn (the loop that is closest to the tip of your finger) and yarn over. Pull the yarn through. Keep the magic circle loose to allow working into the circle. When you complete the number of stitches needed, pull on the loose end to close the magic ring. (See video here: https://shorturl.at/FJTV2)

Bobble Stitch (bobble st): Yarn over, insert hook into the indicated stitch, yarn over, pull yarn through and up to the level of your work, repeat 3 times. There should be a total of 7 loops. Yarn over, pull yarn through 6 loops, yarn over, pull yarn through 2 loops. (See video here: https://shorturl.at/hmwAE)

Picot Stitch (picot st): ch 3, slip stitch into the back strand of the third chain from the hook. (See video here: https://shorturl.at/oqtLS)
